Three local students selected for college’s All-State Jazz Band – Mitchell Republic

The South Dakota Music Educators Association hosted the South Dakota Middle School All-State Jazz Band on February 7-8 at the Mitchell School District Performing Arts Center.
Three local students were selected for the All-State Jazz Group. Mitchell Middle School’s Mason Buenzow was selected as the tenor saxophone player for the band Honor, while Max Hart played drums in the band Festival. Mitchell Christian’s Rebekah Strong has been selected to play trumpet in the band Honor.
A total of 35 students from grades 6 to 8 were selected to participate in the two groups. Mitchell will also host the SDMEA College All-State Band on March 6-7, with the concert scheduled for 3 p.m. The All States Jazz Band participants are listed below:
