Preservation Hall Jazz Band performs at the Greenwich Town Party (A Gallery)

Greenwich Town’s annual party returned to Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Saturday. Billy Joel headlined the day-long festival, which also included sets from the Old Crow Medicine Show, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Mathes, Kimberlin & Friends, featuring Oz Noy and several others.

Robert Randolph & the Family Band were supposed to perform but their set was watered down. However, Randolph stayed and sat down with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for a pair of songs, including “Keep Your Head Up”. Randolph also joined Old Crow Medicine Show during their performance of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”. During Old Crow’s sung rendition of their song “Wagon Wheel”, members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band also took the stage.

Joel, who is famous from Long Island, spoke at the start of his set about how he likes to take his boat to Greenwich and gave a shout out to fans watching from their own ships. Joel also hosted members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for his own “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”.
