The remarkable tradition of excellence continued Tuesday for Pella High School’s music programs – with a three-year win.
Pella Jazz I won the school’s 19th Class 3A State Championship, while Pella Jazz Orchestra placed 5th among 3A teams at the Iowa Jazz Championships in Ames. This is the first time in school history that two Pella ensembles have attended the State’s Top Jazz Bands Showcase. Both placed in the top five of 15 competing schools statewide, and this is the 38th straight year that Pella has placed in the top four at the event. Pella’s Tyler Mifflin was recognized as one of four outstanding Class 3A musicians at the event.
