Mercer County Community College Chorus and Jazz Band will perform free concerts May 2 and 4 at the Kelsey Theater

West Windsor, New Jersey – The Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Jazz Choir and Band will present spring concerts in May at the Kelsey Theater on the West Windsor campus. The public is invited. Free entry.

The MCCC Choir, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music William Marshall, will perform its spring concert on Monday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will also be streamed live at: vimeo.com/event/2013211.

The MCCC Jazz Band, led by Music Department Coordinator Scott Hornick, will perform its Spring Concert on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to an in-person performance, the concert will also be streamed live at vimeo.com/event/2013248.

Comprised of music majors and other students from across campus, the choir will perform works in a variety of musical styles ranging from popular to traditional choral music with selections from Stephen Sondheim, Eric Whitacre, WA Mozart and with an excerpt from the American biographical musical drama “The Greatest Showman”.

“I’m so happy to see our choir back at the Kelsey Theatre,” said Elizabeth Rzasa, teaching assistant in MCCC’s music department. “I am proud of their accomplishments at the MCCC and we all look forward to an inspiring live event.”

The Mercer County Community College Jazz Band will present a varied and exciting program featuring works by George Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Richard Rodgers, Charlie Parker and MCCC Music Department Assistant Professor Dr. Mark Jurcisin. Professionals from the tristate jazz scene will perform alongside Mercer County’s up-and-coming jazz students and singers.

All selections will include improvisations by jazz students, who will perform in small groups as well as with the full band.

The Mercer County Community College Jazz Band was the opening act for the outdoor “Jam for a Cause” event featuring acclaimed New Jersey cover band The Nerds. A portion of the proceeds from food truck sales benefited the Watershed Institute of New Jersey.
