Mattison’s City Grille will host legendary jazz band Dixie for one day only

Skip’s Dixie Mix brings New Orleans, Mardi Gras, Dixie style music to Mattison’s. They will play one day only on Sunday, February 27 at Mattison’s City Grille, 1 North Lemon Avenue, Downtown Sarasota. There are two seats. The first service is at 11:00-11:30 a.m. with the band playing from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The second service is from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the band playing from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is a free event, but reservations are recommended. Skip’s Dixie Mix is ​​a group of seven veteran musicians who have been immersed in the music scene for over six decades and played the circuit with big names in the music industry. Their collective portfolio includes stage time and tours with Patti LaBelle, Bo Diddley, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Engelbert Humperdinck, Ben Vereen and Tom Jones. Members have also performed with well-known orchestras and symphonies such as our own local Venice Symphony and in performances at the Asolo Theatre. Others have performed with the United States Navy School of Music, the US Army Band, and at jazz festivals in North America and Europe. Mattison’s will offer special New Orleans-style menu items such as made-from-scratch seafood gumbo, made-to-order donuts, po boys, shrimp and grits, baby back ribs, and more .
