Jazz Room Series – Steve Nelson with the William Paterson Jazz Orchestra

Sunday October 23, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

Shea Center for the Performing Arts
300 Pompton Road, Wayne, NJ 07470

Steve Nelson is one of the greatest jazz vibraphonists in the world, being part of the lineage on his instrument of Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson. In addition to his solo work, he has collaborated with the great bassist Dave Holland and toured and recorded with such jazz luminaries as Kenny Barron, saxophonists Johnny Griffin, Jackie McLean, David “Fathead” Newman and Bobby Watson. He was a close associate of former WP Jazz manager, the late Mulgrew Miller, and was a member of Miller’s sextet, Wingspan. This concert combines Nelson’s virtuosity with the highly energetic WP Jazz Orchestra, and will feature premieres of arrangements of Nelson’s compositions by WP-certified arrangers.

General Admission: Public $15 • WP Community and Seniors $12
