Jazz band Hawk Express to host annual fall concert Sunday at Connie Niemann Center – Muddy River News

QUINCY — Quincy University’s music department will host its fall concert by jazz band Hawk Express at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Connie Niemann Center for Music, 17th and Seminary Road. The concert is free and open to the public.

The group is under the direction of Christine Damm, Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Communication.

The group will perform a wide range of jazz tunes such as “The Chicken”, “String of Pearls”, “No. 1 No Pickles” and “Birks Works”. Senior Music Education Major Cody Collins will be featured on the trumpet feature, “Feels So Good,” a piece made famous by Chuck Mangione. Senior Kassidy Venvertloh, tenor saxophone, will be featured on the ballad “Midnight Voyage.”
