Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat will perform at Lescar on December 1st.

Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat, a contemporary and cinematic jazz quintet, performs at Lescar in Sharrow on December 1, and the group wants locals to recommend places to eat and drink.

The group won’t be stuck for where to go when they tour the city, as the Sheffielders were quick to respond to their call and offered plenty of recommendations.

Emma Johnson, saxophonist and songwriter, said: “We made an appeal and got a good response, mostly on social media. Many people contacted to recommend different places.

Café # 9, one of Nether Edge’s many independent shops

“We want to visit these places and shoot a few tracks on a live gang track. Tours can be a little weird – you just walk over to where you’re playing. We wanted to know what people love about Sheffield and learn a bit more about it. Some places are favorites just because they have great food and drink, but some will have been recommended for a deeper reason.

Here are the places where Sheffielders told the group to stop when they came to town:Birdhouse tea bar and kitchen – The group proclaims themselves to be beer lovers, so this mother and daughter-owned teahouse on Sidney Street, which serves a range of craft teas, is the perfect stop to quench their thirst before their performance.

Tamper Cafe – This New Zealand-style cafe on Arundel Street has a delicious selection of brunch food and amazing coffee.

Coffee # 9 – If the group wants to experience Sheffield’s music scene, they should stop by Café # 9 on Nether Edge Road where they can have a cup of coffee and listen to live music.

Tamper Coffee is a New Zealand style cafe.

Ning Thai Street Food – This Thai restaurant located in the OHM food court on Fitzwilliam Street is part of the incredible diversity of Sheffield’s culinary scene.

Cubana – Another fantastic restaurant, this Spanish and Latin American tapas spot is located on rue Léopold.

Perche brewery – Gravy Boat can celebrate a fantastic performance by visiting this newly opened brewery on Garden Street.
