WOODBURY – The Friends of Woodbury Senior Community Center have scheduled a free community concert featuring the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra with vocalist Jan Maki at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 18 at the Woodbury Senior Community Center, 265 Main St. South.
The Berkshire Jazz Orchestra, a 17-piece ensemble made up of musicians from County Fairfield, will perform big band selections and classics by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and contemporary songwriters.
Woodbury resident Jan Maki, the singer, has performed with major bands, as well as the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra.
Her vocals include songs from the American Song Book, as well as signature vocals from Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Bette Middler, and Natalie Cole.
The free concert will take place outside the Woodbury Senior Community Center.
Music patrons should bring a lawn chair.
In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved indoors.
No registration required.
The concert is supported by a grant from the Woodbury-Bethlehem Community Music Foundation, Inc., the Woman’s Club of Woodbury and music-loving patrons.
