This holiday weekend features a tribute to the queen of disco, an evening of swing dancing and tennis.

“Summer: Donna’s Summer Musical”

La Jolla playhouse presents the world premiere production of “Summer: Donna’s Summer Musical, “a musical about the life of the disco queen.

The show features three actresses, each representing different phases of Summer’s life. Tony Awarded Broadway Actress La Chanze is Diva Donna, “Hamilton’s” Ariana DeBose is Disco Donna, and Storm lever is the duckling Donna.

The show is directed by Playhouse Director Emeritus Des McAnuff.

San Diego Jazz Festival 2017


This 38th annual event brings together more than 30 invited groups and artists for a weekend of concerts, jams, dance lessons and workshops.

Venues are located at the Town and Country Convention Center, and attendees will find both large concert halls with dance floors and small, intimate listening rooms. The Swing dance extravaganza arrives on Saturday 25 November and has non-stop swing music and dancing from 8:15 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Casbah Music presents an independent rock band Tennis. The group is on tour to support their fourth album, “Yours Conditionally”.

Husband and wife team Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore self-produced the record in a small cabin in Fraser, Colorado. The couple began to write music to document the story of their lives aboard a sailboat. There is an ease in the music, but not in a yacht-rock style. Expect more atmospheric and melancholy music, with vocals that have its heart in 1950s pop.
