Seneca Jazz Band hits hard at Rowan Jazz Festival – Trentonian

GLASSBORO – The Seneca High School Jazz Band participated in this year’s Rowan University Jazz Festival.
The Rowan Jazz Fest is a three-day festival where schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware perform and receive faculty clinics from Rowan University’s music department.
The Rowan Jazz Department is headed by world-renowned saxophonist Dennis DiBlasio, who organizes this festival every year. This year’s guest artist and clinician
festival was legendary bassist Rufis Reid.
Seneca’s 9 a.m. performance featured 11 student-musicians as they kicked off their 2022 performance season.
The following Seneca students performed at the festival: seniors Hannah Dengler, Will Feldscher, Marissa Greeley, Jarret Holland, Max Ianieri and junior Luke Ludwikowski Max Friedman, Kalayna Quisbert, Evan Sturges and Nathaniel Zane and second Freddy Seeber.
“It was great!” said Grady Barber, music teacher at Seneca and director of the jazz band. “The students performed very well in their first road show since 2020. The highlight was that the students received direct feedback from legendary bassist Rufus Reid, who also hosted a clinic featuring two former jazz bands from Seneca.
