Preservation Hall Jazz Band Detail ‘A Tuba to Cuba’ Tour Dates


Preservation Hall Jazz Band has added a fall tour to its 2019 North American tour itinerary to celebrate the release of its new documentary, A snorkel in Cuba. The new dates begin October 22 at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, Connecticut and end November 21 at UCSB Campbell Hall in Santa Barbara, California. Cuban singer-songwriter Yusa will serve as support throughout the trek.

Tickets for the new shows go on sale June 14 at 10 a.m. local time, while a special pre-sale will take place between June 12 at 10 a.m. local time and June 13 at 10 p.m. local time. Full information is available on the tour website.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band will also play a series of shows and festival sets throughout July, August and September. After the race, they will play a previously announced set at the Wonderfront Music Festival in San Diego on November 22, then conclude with a three-night adventure at the Joseph Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore, Maryland from November 29 to December 1. .

In February, Preservation Hall Jazz Band released A snorkel in Cubadirected by TG Herrington and Danny Clinch and chronicling the band’s visit to Cuba in 2015. The film specifically followed band leader Ben Jaffe as he attempted to fulfill the dream of his late father – the founder of Preservation Hall, Allan Jaffe – to trace the roots of New Orleans jazz to native Cuban music.

In March, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band shared a new song, “Kreyol”, which would appear on the Snorkel in Cuba soundtrack, expected to arrive later this year.
