When Hocus Pocus originally released in 1993, the film was poorly reviewed and poorly received. But, in the decades since, the film has become a camp classic. As the film continued to garner attention via airings, streaming and home video sales, the decision was made to bring back all three stars from the original film – Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midlerand Kathy Najimi – for a sequel. When the director of the new film, Anne Flecher, got to see all three stars in action on set, she realized there was definitely some kind of magical synergy that made the trio so much more than the sum of its parts.
